IP industry expert joins FocalPoint

We’re pleased to have Sami Atabani join our management team to lead our licensing strategy. Sami joins us following a long and successful career in Microprocessor licensing at Arm.

Graduating with a Physics and electronics degree from the University of Manchester and MSc in Microelectronics at Southampton University, Sami took an early interest in digital design joining Arm as a CPU design engineer. Enjoying the technical aspects of the role, he was involved with assessing market challenges, although his passions were mainly in product design. With years of CPU design expertise, including helping customers enhance cameras, mobile phones and other types of devices, he had an interest in the training side of the role. He particularly enjoyed facilitating customer engagements during IP licensing negotiations with Arms’ customers.

Working with our senior technical, product and legal teams, Sami will help us deliver a comprehensive licensing strategy for our IP Portfolio, including our S-GNSS technology which enables game changing performance in the automotive, smartphone and wearables sectors.

On joining FocalPoint on a permanent basis, Sami comments:

“ I am thrilled to be joining FocalPoint at such an exciting time in their phase of growth. I find IP licensing fascinating and of course it really helps to have the depth of understanding of our technology, ensuring our customers have all the contractual rights they need leading to a successful commercial outcome.”
