For the last five years FocalPoint has strengthened its technology, reputation and team in order to be at the forefront of providing next generation positioning solutions. We are looking for a VP of Product who has a passion for technology and had previous experience in building successful Product Teams. Taking pride in owning our commercial product strategy, you will be ambitious, collaborative and creative in communicating our product value propositions.
Plan and execute the day-to-day implementation of our commercial product strategy
Devise and map product strategies of both IP-licensing products and software products whilst understanding their technical capabilities
Identify further research or insights to improve FocalPoint’s proposition
Develop product feedback, analytics and privacy strategies to maximise usage insights
Collaborate on technical architecture with various stakeholders to aid in commercial delivery and flexibility
Effectively communicate the commercial drivers and generate customer pull of new features from our product pipeline.
Create messaging for product value propositions and develop material for consistent external communications
Evangelise product opportunities to external audiences e.g. trade shows, developer conferences, etc.
Participate in strategic planning across capabilities and contribute to product-focussed road mapping exercises
Develop short and medium term roadmaps which involve team coordination, a focus on priorities/efforts, feature/bug tracking and prioritisation for development planning
Support the activities of the product team and assist in commercial negotiations as required
Manage and mentor Product Managers/Owners where necessary
Support development of multi-layered business model targeting chipset vendors, OEMs, operating system partners, software vendors and app developers
Support external meetings with strategic partners & customers to close contract commitments and secure recurring revenues
Work alongside our VP of Marketing to create key product marketing initiatives and scope any investment required to drive results
Budget forecasting and business planning for the short - medium term
Ensure cross-capability communications are maintained so that product deliverables, issues etc can be managed effectively
Assist in the management, maintenance and growth of the company’s sales and commercial staff to achieve delivery goals
Provide suitable metrics and reporting as required to support team performance goals and bi-annual reviews.
Experience of deep-tech product management in the smartphone sector, ideally experienced in both chipset-company product development, and also handset/OEM/Applications products.
Extensive experience in a Senior Product Management role
Proven experience managing team(s) at a Senior/Executive level
Strong strategic and leadership skills alongside the ability to operate with highly technical individuals in an agile environment
Previous track record of growing, managing and mentoring Product teams
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with strong IT, technical, analytical and problem-solving skills
Able to work effectively to tight deadlines within a collaborative team-oriented environment using sound judgement in decision-making
Organised and detail-oriented with the ability to change direction and re-prioritise at any given moment
Strong negotiation and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively resolve conflicts and manage multiple priorities
Talent management and resource planning skills to execute business plans for both short and medium term
Experience with GNSS chipset product development
Extensive network across the mobile handset/chipset landscape
Extensive experience in a Senior Product Management role within a startup, experience as founder or startup executive would be highly valued
