New functionality launched at ION
Enabling ease of integration of Supercorrelation™ technology - S-GNSS for chipset companies.
Today (13th September 2023), we released new functionality to our Supercorrelation technology - S-GNSS as discussed at the Institute of Navigation (ION) GNSS+ conference in Denver, enabling ease of integration of Supercorrelation technology for chipset companies.
We have introduced an API interface between a GNSS chipset and an application or operating system running its own navigation engine, easing deployment of our Supercorrelation technology.
Based on the existing Android open source interfaces, the S-GNSS API will allow a normal GNSS chipset to run Supercorrelation technology in a separate external host processor. With this additional software added to the GNSS chipset, the overall system can get the dramatic performance improvements to upgrade the GNSS receiver to a S-GNSS receiver, offering a signal processing suite of enhanced positional technologies.
Dr Ramsey Faragher, Founder and CTO of FocalPoint said of this technical development, “The development of S-GNSS API aims to streamline processes for Supercorrelation technology, easing integration efforts for every chipset manufacturer. The impact will reduce the additional integration time needed for any receiver that complies with existing GNSS Raw Measurement interfaces.”
The S-GNSS API outputs the multipath-free line-of-sight correlation peak for each satellite and the corresponding corrected frequency, codephase and status flags. Additional optional extra outputs can be enabled with turn-on keys, spoofer detection and localisation, and ‘instantaneous’ magnetic-free heading estimation.
Supercorrelation has been recently awarded the National Technology award for Security Innovation of the Year. The judges hailed the technology as a “very exciting SpaceTech innovation with huge potential for growth” and follows previous accolades from esteemed institutions including the UK Royal Institute of Navigation and the US Institute of Navigation. This development is the latest technical upgrade for the S-GNSS product portfolio.
