FocalPoint named Hottest SpaceTech Start-up at the 2020 Europas Awards

We’re extremely excited to have won the award for Hottest Spacetech Start-up at the 2020 Europa Awards last night.

The Europas are Europe’s premier tech start-up competition, founded in 2009 to recognise tech start-ups from across the region, with past winners including Spotify, Transferwise, Soundcloud and Babylon Health.

Hundreds of European start-up founders and their team members gathered on Zoom, hosted by TechCrunch Editor at Large Mike Butcher who announced the category winners online. Winners were chosen by a combination of public vote and a panel including VCs and industry experts.

Initial Europas entries were sorted and sifted by journalists to compile an editorially driven “long list” of some of Europe’s most exciting start-ups and investors. So even making it through to the finals has been a great boost for the team - let alone winning out in the category.

Founder/CEO Ramsey Faragher accepted the award (whilst juggling his twins and doing very well at multitasking) and had this to say:

This is a fantastic recognition of the hard work of the whole FocalPoint Team and comes at an incredibly exciting time for the business. We're honoured to be added to such a formidable list of European Tech stars, and we look forward to the coming months as we press on in our mission to bring 10x better GPS performance to users across Europe and the world.

What’s next for FocalPoint?

While we’re happy to bask in the glory of winning a European Tech Startup award for a short while longer, we’re working full tilt on integration for our S-GNSS software into commercial GPS chips, while our D-Tail team are putting a sports wearable demo through final testing - lots to come!
